PRESENTATION
This route is fantastic to enjoy as a family and is suitable all year round. This is the perfect walk to take in the beautiful views of the Ambroz valley (Cáceres), which you can see throughout almost the whole walk, until you go deep into the pine wood which climbs to the “La Muela” beauty spot.
This route begins by car, from the “Humilladero” square in Candelario, where after travelling 7.68 kilometres, you can leave the car at the beginning of the root, at the foot of the road. Once you are ready for the hike, you can start to climb bit by bit along a well-kept path, where common sense will tell you, looking at the lack of vegetation, that you will need to protect yourself from the sun. The scarcity of vegetation is made up for by some incredible views over the Ambroz valley in the Cáceres province.
Step by step, you will follow the path, which will take you to the “La Muela” hillside. Before arriving, when you have travelled about 4500 metres, you will start to enjoy the Scots pine forest which comes from reforestation, which is typical of this area. You will then continue until you arrive at a fountain and reservoir. This is a good place to take a rest and recharge your batteries, while admiring the landscape in front of you…
Without leaving the path, you will then continue until you reach “La Muela”, where you will be able to make out two granite peaks called the “Dos Hermanitos” (Two Brothers) and the “Hoya Moros” valley, of glacial origin. You can then continue along the path which will take you a little further into the pine forest and by zigzagging, you will return to your starting point, but not before stopping at the “Piluca” fountain, to drink a bit of water before returning to your car.
